Do you remember the hip hop clothing brand FUBU? I remember it was one of the hottest Urban/Hip Hop clothing brand endorsed by L.L. Cool J. in the 90's. Here's a short history video on who it was started: here
I remember how dope I that this commerical was...
And then somehow I stop hearing about them. The FUBU symbol seemed to disappear.
Today I came across this commercials on a Korean website.
It seems like FUBU has re-branded and is focusing of the Korean market.
With popular Korean hip hop artist TOP as their endorsement model and Korean fashion designer Suh Sangyoung as the designer, I guess their old slogan "For Us By Us" is still legit. Check out the Korean FUBU website. HERE
Check out one of TOP's music videos.

Asia is "Tanning".
It's the beginning of the New Year and I wanted a new book to read. So I went to Barnes and Nobles and picked up this.

Now I heard about this book before but I didn't realize it's a book on economics. (even though it's written in the fine print -_- However, Steve Stoute is writing this book through a unique point of view. He was a success record company executive the change careers to become an successful advertising executive. He writes:
"My ultimate goal in writing The Tanning of America is to put an end, once for all, to boxing individuals based on color. ...color is no longer a determining factor in how people think. ...The fact that the music, the language, the style, and even the belief system of hip-hop culture have gone global, spurring the next wave of tanning around the world, also proves it."on page xxviii.
"Tanning" to Steve is the name he has given to the effects that the hip hop culture has had on economics.
I found this fascinating because this is kind of the reasons why I started this blog. Not to prove anything. Or to even talk about economics. I started it to share and explore the fact that I feel the culture that heavily influence my personality resonating though Asian cultures I know nothing about. I started this blog hopes to makes bridges to connect with people of the world like me.
Check out these videos. Hip Hop resonate through them.
Dynamic Duo - 거기서거기 (Without You)
Sistar19의 MaBoy
And a commercial to promote tourism to Seoul by Korean American songwriters David Choi and Dumbfoundead.
There are plenty of example of the hip hop culture in Asia through the internet. Please share with me in my comments. This stuff is fascinating. Or post a message on my facebook wall.

Halle Berry speaks Korean?
Halle Berry is currently learning Korean for the movie Cloud Atlas. It's being co-directed by Tom Tykwer (Run Lola Run, Purfume) and Lana and Andy Wachowski (Matrix, Speed Racer). Also starring Tom Hanks, Hugo Weaving, Jim Sturgess, Hugh Grant, Susan Sarandon, Ben Whishaw and Jim Broadbent. It also stars Korean actress Bae Doona 배두나 as Sonmi-451 (clone). Bae Doona also starred in the Korean hit movie The Host (a.k.a. 괴물) Looks likes a cool movie.

Interview by Simon and Martina of eatyourkimchi
I think it's great that they were able to you this. Hopefully more kpop celebrities willing to let them interview them. I would like to see them interview music producer Teddy from YG Entertainnment.
Check out his lastest single Clazzi - 우리 변한거잖아 (How We Feel) featuring Seulong of Kpop group 2AM.
He mentioned that he would like to collaborate with Rihanna. I thing that could be a great combination. There is here lastest MV You Da One.
